The city of Ouadane is built on the side of a cliff clayey sandstones belonging the formation of continental interlayer. Climbed by vertiginous pile of ruins the city reveals from far its minaret.
The city is located at 175 km in in the North East of Atar the regional capital of Adrar. Ouadane has known an intense cultural and scientific activity its manuscript libraries deal with all areas of knowledge. The same street has sheltered 40 scholars.
